My Home Going Day
By  Julie Anne Hood
Last week I met a woman in the waiting room and we began to talk about the Lord.  She said her mother passed away a
few months ago.   I told her that when I was very sick and thought I might die that I had written a poem.    She asked me
to put it on the church’s web site for her to read.  This is that poem.  I hope it helps to comfort her and all who mourn the
loss of a saved loved one.
I am finally getting ready
From this life I must depart
As my home going day is nearing
And a new life I must start.

My body won’t be going now
And that’s all right with me
For I shall soon be clothed anew
With immortality!

I am off to see my Savior
Yes, the One Who died for me,
To sing His praise forever
And ever with Him be!

I wish I could express it
The excitement that I feel
For I am going home now
To a heaven that is real.

No tears of sorrow that I’m gone
And that my soul is free
For me to enter heaven’s rest
That He’s prepared for me.

So wish me a “Bon Voyage!”
Don’t ever say “good-bye”
For although we leave this life behind
We never really die!
