Do Children Have To Know Spiritual Warfare? You Should Better Believe It!

“The thief does not come except to steal, kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10).
Do you and your children know what to do when Satan attacks? Would they even recognize a spiritual attack?
About ten years ago, a young man by the name of Daniel had his first evident encounter with the enemy. It happened like this…….
Daniel, and his wife, moved into a two story house that had a very steep staircase.
Their little boy was only two years old, so they warned him not to go down the stairs alone,
as he could easily fall. From time to time He would come into their room, late in the night, saying he was scared.
One night he went over to his father and said he was scared. He was visibly shaking.
Daniel asked the boy why he was afraid. He said that a strange woman was downstairs and she was very scary.
He could describe her down to the smallest detail. He added that she had come almost every night and she kept calling him to
come down. The father took the boy to the stairs and asked if he saw her. He looked down and answered ‘No, not now’.
They all went downstairs (carefully) and turned on the lights to show the boy that no one was there.
The three of them prayed together, with all their hearts that God would give them the strength and wisdom to
know what to do (Mark 11:24). Yes, they included the child (Matthew 19:14). Children’s faith is strong and pure.
They went from room to room, opening every door and every cupboard. By opening the cupboards, Daniel was showing this child
(only 2 years old) that nothing could hide. Now that the child is older, he understands that cupboards cannot hide a spiritual
being. They bound, and rebuked these demons, and demanded they go. They then moved on to the next rooms.
When finished, they thanked God for helping them and for protecting their child.
In the morning they walked their property and claimed it for Jesus. They never had that, or any other spirit, reenter that house.
Often Daniel and his wife pray over their home, car and family. All of their children know how to pray, and when to seek Mom
or Dad to help them. The kids are not afraid. They are well armed. But we cannot arm our children without knowing what to do
ourselves. Even small children can sense when things are not quite right. We have to teach our children how to defend
themselves before expecting them to go out into the world alone. Yes, children sometimes have bad dreams,
but like this one, sometimes they are real. Discounting this event could have cost this small child his life.
We teach our children to beware of strangers; to not go with anyone but Mom and Dad, and etc.,
But have we taught them about the most deadly enemy?
God has given us the ability to see where the enemy has tried to get a foothold in our lives,
and He has supplied us with the weapons to defend ourselves. We must pray and study the Word daily.
Are your children safe? Or are you training them for battle?
“Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6
