Of all the gifts God has given us, it is the gift of love I find to be the most wondrous.
Yes, God has given all of us this capacity for love. But what do we love; our husbands, children, our hobbies, or our very lives?
God wants us to have a zest for life, and to love those He has given us. But what of Him?
Oh, we fear Him. We are in awe of Him. We are thankful to Him and for Him. But do we love Him?
Think on the thing you love most in this world. It is probably a person.
Think of this person; their face, their laugh, the way they move, or maybe even their tears.
Do you feel this way of Your God? Do you feel His pain, mirth, anger, and disappointment at being ignored and disregarded?
He made us for His pleasure. He walked daily with Adam. God wants us to want Him. His word says that He is a Jealous God.
Imagine, He created us, and there are whole days that go by without us thanking or thinking of what would please Him.
We are so selfishly thinking of what we want and need every day that we sometimes don’t even think of Him at all except complain.
God wants us to put Him first. He will then take care of our needs. We don’t read His Word.
Nor do we spend time with Him, waiting on Him to guide us.
In essence, we are telling Him we don’t want Him or need Him to take care of us. We just don’t have time for Him.
I can understand why His word says that in the end we will come to Him and to many of us He will say “depart, I know you not.”
Even some of those who healed and cast out demons in God’s name will be turned away. He was not first in our lives.
He mentions in His word the phrases ‘bride’ and ‘first love’ in regards to us because that’s how He considers us,and that’s how we
should be thinking of Him. An intimate and very personal relationship; not out of habit or of duty, but out of ‘love.’
No, not want, NEED! A relationship that takes precedence over everything in our lives.
There is a song that says "You are the air I breathe". This is the way we should think of Our God.
With a love more important than the very air we breathe, a passionate love that we protect, one we nurture so that it grows
stronger daily. Protective love? Yes, not to protect Him, but to protect our relationship with Him.
This world will do everything it can to destroy this relationship. What has become your god?
Let us do everything we can to develop a closer relationship with Him.
He is always here whenever we call Him.
We just have to make time for Him, not as an afterthought, but first on the list.
He will make sure we have the time for everything else that needs doing.
He has to be first; the first thought in the morning and the last at night.
Let us pray for His help in this matter.
The enemy will do all in his power to prevent us from having a stronger and closer relationship.
But the results will be amazing and well worth every second you spend with Him.
